22 Nov Bathroom Staging without Breaking the Bank
As an experienced Realtor, I can tell you with certainty that kitchens and bathrooms sell homes. Before my clients put their home on the market, I always advise them to put extra effort into ensuring the kitchen and bathrooms are at their best. Unlike what many believe, sprucing up your bathroom doesn’t have to be as expensive as you think. There’s no need to start ripping up tiles or buying new fixtures. Here are a few quick and easy tips to stage your bathroom at little cost, but with big results.
The first tip is to get your bathroom ready for staging. Get out the bleach, or if you prefer, an organic substitute, and start scrubbing. Clean the bathroom top to bottom so that it sparkles. Some of the things you should concentrate on are getting rid of mold; remove the covers from light fixtures and fans to get rid of dust and bugs; remove personal items like prescriptions from the cabinet; throw out old, frayed rugs and towels; and fix leaky faucets and weathered cabinets.
The next tip involves a bit of shopping. First is a can of paint. A fresh coat of paint does wonders to any room. Choose a neutral colour that will match the existing décor and doesn’t stand out too much. Painting all the trim and doors white will freshen up the space and add a contemporary look. Also purchase some crisp, white towels and a white fabric shower curtain. White always provides a clean, fresh look that is attractive to most potential buyers.
The last step is to hang a few pieces of artwork or mirrors. Mirrors will help to make the space look larger and a nice piece of art is simply a great finishing touch. When hanging the artwork, unify it by common features; color, frames, matte colors and so on. Also try not to clutter the bathroom with too many small pieces of art. Hang a large piece of art above the toilet or towel bar. The best place to hang a mirror is where it will reflect light, from a window with a great view, or a sparkling lighting fixture. This will bounce more light around a room creating the illusion of more space.
These three steps will make your bathroom look like a beautiful oasis. A clean space that is decorated simply will always improve the overall look of the home. Another few added tips would be to fill some clear jars with cotton pads and Q-tips or a basket with sea sponges, bath brushes, and bath salts and set it by the bathtub or corner of the vanity to add that final touch.
The best thing about this bathroom makeover is that it can be done or less than $150 and add so much value to your home!
